The Way of the Cross Leads Home
Placed along the walls in the Breckenridge Village Chapel are crosses in memory and honor of individuals who have made a lasting impact on the culture and community of Breckenridge Village. Each cross, accompanied by a plaque bearing the name of the honoree, represents a unique story, symbolizing lives that have left an indelible handprint on the hearts of residents, staff, and visitors alike. These crosses collectively transform the Chapel into a beautiful, living testament to the legacies of those remembered here at Breckenridge Village.

The tradition of “The Cross Project,” began in 2000 with a single cross dedicated to Robert L. Breckenridge. Initially, the cross served as a personal way for Jimmy Breckenridge, Robert’s son, to honor his father and reflect on their memories while spending time in the chapel. As residents at Breckenridge Village saw the significance of this tribute, many expressed a desire to do the same- to honor others in a similar way. What started as a small, meaningful gesture has since grown into a cherished project that displays the rich history of Breckenridge Village and the people who have shaped its character over the years.

In addition to serving as a heartfelt tribute, the initiative also plays a vital role in supporting the broader mission of Breckenridge Village. If you would like to have a cross placed in the chapel, we request a donation of a minimum of $500 for the Cross Project and the dimensions to be 12”x12” or less. You may either send in a cross for us to hang, or we can supply a cross for you. The funds raised through this project help sustain our programs and services, as well as cover the price of the plaque and hanging the cross.

In the comment, please provide the name of the person whom this cross will honor and the way you will deliver the cross (mail or drop-off) if applicable.
