You’re a Masterpiece

Naturally around this time each year, I reflect on the freedoms that we all are privileged to have as Americans as we celebrated our nation’s independence this last month. But when I think about “freedom,” and while I am certainly grateful for the incredible freedoms I have as an American, I also realize what freedom we have as believers and followers of Jesus.

Amazing Grace has always been one of my favorite hymns. When singer Chris Tomlin added the now infamous verse starting with “my chains are gone” to the hymn, it added a new perspective of the grace that we all so freely receive. Because of grace, we’ve been set free…because “his mercy rains”, we experience abundant life…the type of life we were created for.

Also around this time of year, I am thankful specifically, for BVT. Because of this wonderful place, what incredible freedom our residents experience through the hope and love that are freely given. Because of this place, because of these opportunities, our residents are able to experience and embrace a sense of freedom that they may have never experienced before.

Not only do we live in the greatest country in the world, but we are blessed and endowed by our Creator to experience the ultimate freedom of being accepted and loved by our Lord for exactly how we are. I once heard the quote “Can you remember who you were before the word told you who you should be?” My prayer for you this month is that you are not defined or identified through the lens of the world, but yet you see yourself the way our heavenly Father sees you…as His masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10).

Until next time,
